Experiences

Led by people who live here.

Nothing on this list is run by a contractor from town. Ren has counted the sea stars on our reef for eleven years; the bread morning is taught by the person who bakes it.

Book ahead

Add to a stay.

  • Kelp forest paddle

3 hours $145 May to October

Out through the gap at slack water and north along the kelp line. Otters most mornings, whales in the spring if the timing is kind.

  • Cellar tasting

    90 minutes $85 Friday and Saturday, 17:00

Six pours from the coastal ridges above us — the cold, difficult vineyards that make the wine this coast is quietly good at.

  • Bread morning

    4 hours $125 Saturdays

Start the levain at seven, shape at nine, eat at eleven. You go home with a culture and the confidence to keep it alive.

  • Coastal forage

3 hours $95 November to April

Sea beans, wild mustard, miner's lettuce and — in a good winter — the candy cap mushrooms that end up in the custard at dinner.

No charge

Included with every room.

  • Low-tide walk

2 hours Included Year round, tide dependent

Walked with Ren, who has been counting the sea stars on this stretch of reef for eleven years and can tell you which ones came back after the die-off.

  • Sauna and cold plunge

    Open 15:00–21:00 Included Year round

Cedar sauna in the courtyard, plunge tub fed from the well, and a bench facing the windbreak for the part in between.

Practical

Everything here runs on the tide.

The reef walk and the paddle are scheduled against the tide table rather than the clock, which means the time changes every day and sometimes lands at six in the morning. We publish the following week's times on the Friday before, and you can move a booking without charge if the hour turns out to be uncivil.

Everything except the sauna is weather dependent. If we cancel, you are not charged; if you cancel inside twenty-four hours, you are.

Ask about a date

Book the room first.

Experiences are offered during checkout, and the good ones go early in the season.
